The Psalms are emotional expressions that speak to our hearts – sharing praise, joy, lament and sorrow with our God who demonstrates faithful love and forgiveness. Some of the most joyous and the most difficult expressions of faith are contained in these Psalms.
As we look forward to the launch of Psalms Vol. 2 later this summer, here are a few the different categories included in Psalms 42-106:
- Praise: “I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart.” Psalm 86:12
- Lament: “I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me?” Psalm 42:9
- The Kingdom of God: “The Lord Reigneth…He is high above all the people.” Psalm 91:1-2
- Confession: “Have mercy upon me, O God . . . Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.” Psalm 51:1-2
- Judgment “God standeth in the congregation of the mighty: he judgeth among the gods.” Psalm 82:1
- Thanksgiving: “Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving.” Psalm 95:2
