Field Notes of Leadership Ministries Worldwide – Meet Gideon Umukoro

Gideon Umukoro of Akure, Nigeria, visited the Leadership Ministries Worldwide office in June, 2016. Gideon is affiliated with Equipping Leaders Internationally (ELI), and is eager to get quality resources like The Preacher’s Outline & Sermon Bible® to pastors in Nigeria.

“Pastors here have a passion for their call. They have a gift for bringing people together; but they don’t know how to feed them.The Preacher’s Outline & Sermon Bible® is a great reference source that is easy for pastors to understand. It uses simple language that a carpenter, a farmer, a fisherman can understand. Educated seminarians use it, but the semi-literate can also grasp the biblical truths presented. When we give this resource to a small village pastor, it is like giving them food. . . It is like a hook – they can go to a stream and catch fish for God!”

Gideon signed up as a trainer on Lystra Global, giving him unlimited access to The Preacher’s Outline & Sermon Bible® and other resources that he can share with pastors worldwide.

Pray for those in prison

Prison is a dark place

It is a blessing to know that ministries like Prison Fellowship are bringing light in the darkness. The scripture reminds us that we are to: “Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them.” Hebrews 13:3.

How often do we remember those in prison? God sees value in every person – the prisoner and the saint. This week we invite you to pray for those who are in prison, remembering the physical and spiritual darkness they are experiencing. Pray for those who work with Prison Fellowship and other prison ministries, reaching out to those who are broken, and need the light, grace, and salvation available through Jesus Christ.

Hundreds of volumes of The Preacher’s Outline & Sermon Bible®  have been sent to prisons this year for use in Bible studies and Christian teaching. Pray that God’s Word will be revealed to the prisoners, empowering them to turn their lives over to Jesus.

What a blessing it is to gather together and worship God, then share a meal and fellowship with a group of like-minded believers! When we thank God for the food before us, do we remember that there are many around the world who are hungry every day? Do we remember that there are those who don’t know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior?

This week, as you enjoy each meal, as you worship, study, and pray with a community of faithful believers, remember those around the world who are hungry, both physically and spiritually. Pray for God’s presence in their lives, and that He will meet their every need.

Let us give thanks for God’s Word, the Good News of Jesus Christ, bringing light to the darkness, wisdom for the ages, truth for eternity. Praise Him!
